In 2019, a photo emerged of his daughter on a family vacation wearing a prototype shoe, originally dubbed the "Yeezy Croc," which was ridiculed by many. A few months later, Ye sent sample shoes to the models who wore them on the cover of Face Magazine. When the public realized that this was the next Yeezy style, it caused a stir online and many negative reviews.

With Ye tweeting about "West Day Ever," Yeezy Supply's possible website redesign, and a shock price drop on the "Ararat" Yeezy Foam RNNR, a series of announcements saw the start of the YZY GAP. Sold out within minutes of launch, the aftermarket price of the Silhouette skyrocketed from $75 to more than 5x, and the public has embraced the new design.
The "Sand" and "MXT Moon Grey" colorways were released eight months later, despite the fact that the model took only 25 minutes to create. During the launch, fake yeezy foam runner appeared almost exclusively in models, with countless samples appearing on the internet.
