About Fake Nike Air Vapor Max & Off-White Cooperation
In early 2017, Virgil Abloh deconstructed and redesigned 10 Nike shoes. The collaboration between Nike and fake Off-White was officially confirmed in late August, but Abloh has been working on the design since earlier. Abloh used an X-ACTO knife to disassemble the removed shoe, removing and altering key elements of the shoe. He kept the basic silhouette of each shoe, but added small fabrics and panels, and repositioned parts. Abloh focused his designs on the stitching and tongue of each shoe.
Each shoe Abloh designs features a print on the inside that reflects the creative process and where it was created. It's titled "fake Off-White for Nike," followed by the name of the revamped shoe, followed by "Beaverton, Oregon USA" and "C. 2017" two lines later. Beaverton, Oregon, is where the shoe was designed. Abloh also incorporates the name of a particular shoe's primary material in bold black quotes on the midsole, a signature feature of both Off-White and Abloh. Examples of these include "AIR" and "FOAM".
Off-White Product Logo
A key part of the creative process was adding the signature Off-White zip ties that go hand in hand with fake Off-White products. All silhouettes in the collaboration feature a red tie emblazoned with the date, the name of the collaboration and "zip-tie" in bold letters in white.
All shoes in this collaboration are equipped with shoelaces, and the word "SHOELACES" is written in bold letters at the end of each shoelace. Each pair of shoes comes with multiple pairs of laces, each in a different color.
Abloh designs shoes in all men's sizes. With the exception of the Air Force 1s, they released in all black and Volt-style toddler sizes. Abloh only added deconstructed versions of the women's Air Max 97, Blazer Mid and Waffle Racer.
During 2019, Abloh shared images from his "Figures of Speech" exhibition at the MCA in Chicago, which included initial samples of the Nike & fake Off-White collaboration's Nike and Air Jordan shoes, including remakes of the Air Jordan IV, Nike Vaporfly and Air VaporMax Version.
Fake Nike Air Vapor Max & Off-White Design
As one of the shoes of this collaboration between Nike and fake Off-White, the Air Vapor Max has been redesigned in a black colorway with a beige sole and "AIR" printed on the bubble on the outside of the shoe. The shoes include a worn tongue. An all-black version and an all-white version were added later.
